Medical Thermography

Breast Health Screening

Breast Cancer is on the rise & early detection of any abnormalities is becoming all the more important. Reports have shown that pain is not experienced until the cancer has reached an advanced stage. Crestfield Medical Practice advises all women to carry out monthly self examinations & if any lumps, bumps, discharge from nipples or if the nipple becomes inverted to report them to your G.P. as soon as possible. Research has demonstrated that early intervention results in increased success rates in treatment.

Mammogram is the traditional method of detecting breast cancer. However it is not indicated in routine screening for women under the age of 50. Also there is an exposure to some radiation during the process which carries its own risks. Medical Thermography can lead to an early pre-diagnosis of breast pathology. Research has shown that this procedure can indicate the early stages of cancer development up to 10 years before it is detectable by Mammogram! Medical Thermography can be carried out routinely for women from the age of 20 & form part of a preventative approach to Healthcare.

The process is entirely non invasive & can reveal early warning signs of a developing pathology known as "Malignant Angiogenesis". This term is used to describe the development of neoplasms with their own blood supply. Cells are not necessarily cancerous at this stage, but it is the best time to initiate medical intervention to increase to possibilities of a successful outcome.

Medical Thermography can detect these abnormalities from the size of a pinhead. Medical Thermography is available at Crestfield Medical Practice & if you want to make an appointment, please contact us at your convenience.
